She had a good job - Respected. Secure. Well-paid.
And deeply misaligned!
When my client spoke about changing roles, her fear wasn’t about capability. It was about loss.
🍁 “What if I lose stability?”
🍁 “What if I lose credibility?”
🍁 “What if I lose everything I’ve built?”
Behavioral psychologists like Daniel Kahneman and Amos Tversky describe this as Loss Aversion — we experience the pain of losing more intensely than the joy of gaining.
So she stayed. Not because it fulfilled her.
But because it felt safer than uncertainty.
Through our coaching sessions, something subtle but powerful began to shift.
What changed for her wasn’t the market.
It wasn’t the opportunity......It wasn’t even her capability.
It was three deeper internal shifts:
🌿 From Fear of Loss → Awareness of Bias
She began to see that her hesitation wasn’t pure intuition — it was loss aversion. Naming it reduced its grip. The fear didn’t vanish, but it became information — not a command.
🌿 From External Security → Internal Security
Her sense of safety had been tied to a title, an organization, a predictable structure. Gradually, her stability shifted inward.
🌿 From “What If I Fail?” → “What Do I Value Now?”
Instead of making a fear-based decision, she clarified what truly mattered at this stage of her life.
The biggest shift?
She stopped asking,
“How do I avoid loss?”
And started asking,
“Who do I want to become next?”
And that one question changes everything! 😇
